CARIOCO

2002 Black Bay P.R.E. Andalusian Stallion
Anyone who has
ever ridden a horse keeps an image tucked in the back of
his or her mind of a “dream horse”. A flowing mane and
tail, coat shining in the sun, a proud arched neck, and
deep brown, kind, wise eyes. On a trip to Mexico in
December of 2004, I met my dream horse. We had an
appointment with a breeder to look at mares for sale. The
moment my husband and I saw Carioco, the mare shopping
ended!
Imported from Spain, Carioco was bred by the Hros.
F. Guardiola farm. This breeder is also well known for
their fighting bulls. Along with beautiful movement and
excellent conformation, Carioco is easily trained, quiet on
the trail, striking in the show ring, and loves to chase
cows! We use him to turn back in the cutting pen, and it is
the highlight of his week!
Carioco is currently showing
second level dressage. We are working toward qualifying for
the Rocky Mountain Dressage Society Championships in
September. In addition to showing in the dressage ring,
Carioco has enjoyed a great deal of success in USEF hunt
seat competition. He is a forward, correct mover with
absolute obedience. I started jumping with him last year,
and he loves it. We will be showing 2’6” and up in the
Montana Hunter Jumper circuit in 2010. Although it is a joy
to show him, I also love to take Carioco for trail rides
through our beautiful Montana scenery. I gather cattle,
sort cattle at brandings, and just enjoy riding him. I look
forward to years of fun with this talented young stallion!
Carioco is standing to a limited book of approved mares.
All breeds are considered, as his crossbred babies are
fantastic. We also accept purebred Andalusian and Lusitano
mares. Carioco is inscribed with Spain, and registered in
the U.S. with IALHA. Breeding is by cooled shipped semen
only. He maintains excellent sperm count and motility in
his cooled semen. If you are breeding for an elegant show
horse, an athletic cow horse, or just a nice trail horse,
let Carioco put a Spanish flare in your breeding
program!
